As stated on the main page, we are a farm family located near Grinnell, Iowa. Rick was born in the Central Iowa area and has lived in this area all of his life. Rick works off the farm at Kruseman Implement, located in Sully, Iowa. Cathy was born in Central Ohio and moved to Grinnell, Iowa, in 1986, where she is currently employed at Fastenal. Both Rick and Cathy come from a long line of farmers and farm families.
Stephanie and Carson were both born in Grinnell, Iowa, and have never lived anywhere else but our current residence. They have had to move once though; in 2004 we decided to build a new home on our farm. Thus we packed everything in a semi-trailer, destroyed the old one story small ranch house and replaced it with the home shown on our main page.
Activities we enjoy besides raising goats include riding horses, working on the farm, and spending quality time together. Stephanie currently attends Grinnell College, where she is a rising second year and will major in either political science or studio art. While at Grinnell, she has co-initiated a tap dance group, been a member of Grinnell’s Dance Ensemble, and will manage for the Pioneer football team in the fall. She is also the assistant coach of the Tiger Paws Dance Team at Grinnell High School. Carson will be a senior at Grinnell High School. He is an avid outdoors person: he enjoys riding his 4-wheeler, fishing, and hunting. He also participates in FFA and Grinnell High School’s trap shooting team. He has competed and placed at state level FFA competitions for the past two years and has competed at the state trap shooting competition for the past three years. Rick and Cathy enjoy doing things with the kids but also enjoy time alone with each other or going out to eat with friends.
As with most farms, we also have the beloved cats. We have a few cats outside in the barns and two very spoiled cats in the house. The two cats in the house actually rule the house and are very pampered pets. Both Pudge and Squirt were born outside and somehow both found their way in the house to stay; they are now part of the family. |
